Jez Sweetland, Project Director, Bristol Housing Festival
Jez has initiated and managed strategic development in a variety of settings. His previous positions include CEO of Guildhall Barrister’s Chambers, and CEO of a charitable national skills training organisation. He founded the Bristol Housing Festival in 2018 and believes collaboration is the key to lasting social development. Jez lives in Bristol with his wife, Joanna and his three children.

Nigel Dyke, Director, Alec French Architects
Nigel Dyke has been a Director of Alec French Architects since 2003. He is also a Board Member of LandAid SW. He has long been interested in all forms of social housing as well as the benefits of good placemaking. Recently these interests have increasing included using the benefits of modular methods of construction to deliver sustainable communities. He was part of the team involved with the LaunchPAD project that won the RICS SW Social Value Project of the Year 2020.

Sally Gilbert, Development Director, Brighter Places
Brighter Places is a community-based housing association, which owns and manages approximately 3000 homes across the West of England. Sally is a building surveyor by profession and has always had a passion for development and the positive role that good quality housing can have on residents’ health & wellbeing. She has worked in the 3rd sector for more than 20 years. Her role at Brighter Places enables her to influence the development of the communities in which they work and enables communities to become resilient and sustainable.Sally Gilbert is Development Director of Brighter Places, a community-based housing association, which owns and manages approximately 3000 homes across the West of England. John O’Brien, Consultant, Tempo Housing
John is an independent environmental consultant, a Chartered Builder and Chartered Environmentalist.
John has been working with TempoHousing UK & Ireland to develop affordable modular housing that will achieve the Future Homes Standard, to deliver spacious, comfortable, and healthy homes that eliminate fuel poverty and help tackle the chronic housing shortage.
John has 30 years’ experience in construction, working with contractors, social housing providers and recently 12 years for BRE developing solutions for low carbon housing solutions cross the new and existing housing stock.

Heather Rees, Associate an Architect, AWW
Heather is an Associate and Architect at AWW, based out of the Bristol office. With experience across a range of sectors, including residential, education and master-planning, Heather believes that architecture is about people; meeting the needs and functions of users whilst creating places that enhance quality of life. She is social value champion for the company, as AWW seeks to further grow its contribution and positive impact on society.
