Why we need innovation in housing

As the statistics below show, real and severe challenges face our city and our nation and this drives our passion for systemic change. Bristol and the UK as a whole are facing three major challenges: a housing crisis, the climate crisis and a construction skills shortage.

Simply put, we need more housing, but this is an opportunity to meet the needs of residents better and work towards a sustainable future. 

Cold homes are costing the NHS in England £1.36 billion every year in hospital and primary care, and it’s estimated that increasing physical activity through access to quality green spaces could save the NHS around £2.1bn annually.  By considering statistics like these as we look to the future of housing, as well as Bristol’s strategy to work towards being carbon neutral by 2030, we can shape our goals around what really matters: people, the community, and sustainability.
